Overview

The HR Director is an important role to the success of the business. The HR Director develops and implements Human Resource strategies, policies and procedures, manages all employee-related issues, manages organizational performance, develops and implements training and other HR programs to support corporate initiatives, designs and implements employee benefit programs, oversees and manages payroll administration, recruitment and onboarding.

Responsibilities:

25% HR Strategy & Project Initiatives

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital

35% Employee Relations

  • Support a positive working environment
  • Maintain compensation plan and all health & welfare benefits programs
  • Keep abreast of and ensure legal compliance with all Federal/State employment labor laws, including FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, EEO and ADA. Consult with outside counsel as needed to determine appropriate course of action
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Investigate employee concern or complaints, by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations. Partner with management to recommend actions to resolve issues
  • Enhance and/or maintain, implement and enforce the Employee Handbook and ensure consistent adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Manage workers’ compensation, FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and request for other leaves of absence while utilizing tools and resources that lower claim costs, improve employee safety and increases attendance and retention rates. Coordinate and manage workers’ compensation claims review and RTW (return to work) program
  • Provide managers and employees with consultation, advice and coaching relating to interpretation of HR policies and regulations
  • Oversee leave management (vendor management)
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Other related activities as needed

10% Performance Management & Organizational Development

  • Help managers set goals and manage employee performance
  • Launch annual performance reviews
  • Administer salary and performance review program to ensure alignment to core company values.
  • Develop training programs to support corporate initiatives and provide employees with the skills they need.
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
  • Other related activities as needed.

10% Benefit Administration

  • Work with Benefit Broker to design employee benefit plans
  • Responsible for benefit administration for all benefit plans, including contract negotiation, communication to employees, problem resolution, compliance, and audits
  • Oversee and plan annual open enrollment
  • Support employee benefit administration
  • Other related activities as needed

10% Payroll Support

  • Collect and submit payroll adjustments, commissions and bonuses to vendor
  • Liaise with vendor on payroll related matters
  • Update Employment Status in ADP

10% Manage and Oversee HR Function

  • Manage HR Coordinator
  • Oversee and ensure recruitment goals are met
  • Recruit for business critical, high impact, or sensitive positions as needed
  • Manage and ensure effective onboarding experience for new employees

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Proven working experience as HR leader
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HR programs
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence in building and effectively managing interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
